Pohuenui is one of the largest privately owned "islands" in the South Pacific and has been described as the jewel in the Sounds. You can experience a piece of paradise that will linger in your memories long after your footprints have vanished. Pohuenui provides a variety of modern accommodations from the budget minded through to luxury escapes - from couples to families and on to large groups.
Various secluded beaches offer romantic settings for nature lovers and with over 80kms of tracks to explore there is plenty to entertain the trampers, mountain bikers and outdoor experts.
For those looking for something a little bit different we offer a three night fully catered stay in our luxury lodge. This gives you time to explore and take advantage of the activities we have - kayaking, hunting, fishing and a farm tour around the island.
The Cottage has three double beds, the Shearer’s Quarters contains three double beds and three single beds and the Cookhouse has one double bed and two sets of bunks for the kids.
Covered in over 1500ha of native bush and scrub we welcome all hunters and have a walk-in-chiller by the Cookhouse door which means pigs are kept fresh until you go home.
Located in the Outer Pelorus Sounds it makes the perfect base camp for that boy’s fishing trip and with the price of fuel these days it is more economical to stay the weekend than return to Havelock with one days fishing quota. Pohuenui is only 50 minutes by boat from Havelock and we have four moorings and a wharf on site for guests.
